For breakfast and lunch you can't beat the Firesign Cafe.  For lake front dining there is Chambers Landing Bar & Grill, West Shore Cafe and Inn, and Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge.  A great place for burgers is The Bridgetender Tavern and Grill.  Don't forget about Swiss Lakewood and the River Grill.

Fleur du Lac is a lake front gated community with 22 large luxury townhomes on approx 15 acres on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.  It is located just over 1 mile to Homewood Mountain Resort, 5 miles to Tahoe City, approx 9 miles to Alpine Meadows ski area, 10 miles to Squaw Valley, and nineteen miles to Truckee.

Originally the summer estate of Henry J. Kaiser (Kaiser Aluminum) built in 1939, Fleur du Lac lies just north of Homewood and just south of Eagle Rock, a 200 foot high, flat-topped promontory near the water's edge.   The grounds and original buildings were used in the filming of the movie, Godfather II, in 1973.  Shortly after the movie was made, a developer purchased the property to create this exclusive lakefront development.  The only structures used in the movie that still remain are the complex of old native stone boat houses with their wrought iron gates.  Although Fleur du Lac is private property and no one is allowed ashore there, the boat houses and multi-million dollar condominiums are easily viewed from the lake.  One can still recall "Fredo" being rowed out into the mist on his last boat ride!
