Life in Lake Tahoe with a bit of real estate news

Hurricane Bay is on the west shore of Lake Tahoe roughly three miles south of Tahoe City.

Hurricane Bay is dog friendly but Hwy 89 is close so be careful.  The shore drops off quickly so it is a good place to throw the ball or stick if you have a dog that enjoys water.  It can be a busy spot in the summer but there's lots of parking.

Meeks Bay

Meeks Bay is a great place to spend the day on a beach of Lake Tahoe.  It is located between Sugar Pine State Park and D.L. Bliss State Park.  There are many local activities in the area including hiking, biking, boating and running.  Or just relax on the beach for the day and barbecue a meal.

Emerald Bay is located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe approximately 18 miles south of Tahoe City and approximately 12 miles from South Lake Tahoe.  The state park has a boat-in camp ground and Eagle Point Camp ground.

D.L. Bliss State Park is located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe not far from Emerald Bay and approximately 17 miles south of Tahoe City on Hwy 89.  In fact the Rubicon Trail connects the park and Emerald Bay.  It is a pretty challenging hike or run in some areas.  There are 2 other trails called the Lighthouse Trail and the Balancing Rock Trail.  Sandy Lester Beach is a nice way to hang out for the day or head over to Calawee Cove which is equally relaxing.  In 1929, the D.L. Bliss family donated the 744 acres to state parks.  Camping is available or day us...

Emerald Bay State Park was recognized as a National Natural Landmark in 1969.  There are two campgrounds; one is walk or boat in only and the other is Eagle Point Campground.  The boat in campground has a pier to load and unload gear and buoys to moor your boat for the night.  A great day hike is the Rubicon Trail which wraps around Emerald Bay and continues along the shores of Tahoe over to D.L. Bliss State Park.  An easier hike is the one mile down to Vikingsholm.  On the other side of Hwy 89 is a two mile h...

This beach is located in between Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista.  Safeway and The Old Brockway Golf Course are directly across the street and the intersection of Hwy 28 and Hwy 267 is nearby.

There are picnic tables, restrooms and volleyball courts as well as a grassy area with trees to possibly get some shade for the young ones and the dog.  There is a decent amount of parking but the lot can fill up quickly since this is very access...

Speedboat Beach is located in North Lake Tahoe near the stateline and Kings Beach.

It is also known as Buck's Beach.  It is at the end of Harbor Ave and there is a walkway down to the beach.  There are large boulders to climb on and plenty of sand to dig your feet in.  In the summer months it can get very busy as it is relatively small and parking can be hard to find.  ...

Sandy Beach is easy to find in Tahoe Vista just off of Hwy 28 / North Lake Blvd.

This is a great North Lake beach with great views looking south.
