Alpine Meadows 1-10-6am Real Estate Listings

Alpine Meadows ski resort was originally started by a group of San Francisco skiers in 1961 and currently offers 13 lifts accessing 2400 skiable acres with an average snowfall of 450 inches.  It is located approx six miles from Tahoe City, five miles from Squaw Valley, and 10 miles from Truckee.

As of November 2011, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows have combined efforts and now offer thousands of acres of terrain between the 2 mountains.  A shuttle bus leaves each area on the half hour.  The local’s favorite is the Sherwood chair on the back side of the mountain accessed by Ward Canyon on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.

At the entrance to Alpine Meadows is the River Ranch which offers great lunch, dinner and an apres ski environment right on the banks of the Truckee River.  The Truckee River bike trail follows the river to Squaw Valley as well as up river to Tahoe City.  The Alpine Springs Community Park is also located near the entrance to Alpine Meadows.  It is open to the public on a pay to use basis in the summer months and offers tennis courts, b-b-q area, volleyball court, a pond and a large grass park like area.  During the winter months, living in the valley at Alpine Meadows is all about being close to the mountain.  Summer months offer hiking to spots like Five Lakes or the Pacific Crest Trail.  Mountain bikers have access to the Western States trail and Page Meadows.
