Thunderbird Lodge- George Whittell Jr.’s historic estate was built in the 1930’s and is open for summer tours. The guided tours are lead by Incline Village Visitor’s center. For more information call (775)832-1606. The estate includes the Card House, Boat House, Elephant House, Lighthouse and a 600 foot-long underground tunnel. There is no on-site paking.
Cave Rock- Between Incline village and South Lake Tahoe. Drive through what is actually the neck of an old volcano. It was formed during the ice ages and is just north of a Nevada State beach which is perfect for a picnic, some fishing, or just relaxing.
Lake Tahoe Historic Society Museum- Hwy 50, Rufus Allen Blvd. Trace Lake Tahoe’s history from the local tribes to the days of the SS Tahoe. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day and Saturdays all year long, weather permitting. Call (530)541-5458 for more information.
Tallac Historic Site- Hwy 89, south of Emerald Bay, next to Camp Richardson. There are 3 large homes, Pope, Valhalla, and Baldwin. Baldwin offers a museum, there are tours of the Pope Estate and Valhalla is available for rental. Call 530-541-5227 for more information
