Watson Cabin - North Lake Tahoe

See Tahoe life at the turn of the century. Guides are dressed in period costumes and many of the original pieces of furniture are on site. Built in 1909, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, it now rests in the hands of the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society. Open June 15th through Labor Day.

GATEKEEPER'S MUSEUM

The Gatekeeper’s Museum is a reconstruction of the original Gatekeeper’s Cabin – home of the water master who controlled the flow of water out of Lake Tahoe.  It now showcases Tahoe history, from its Native inhabitants through the logging era and the establishment of the tourism industry at Lake Tahoe.  Exhibits include Native American baskets, resort memorabilia, historical photographs, clothing, oral histories, maps, archival documents, newspapers and artifacts.

Thunderbird Lodge

The Thunderbird Lodge is one of the best examples of a great residential estate on Lake Tahoe. Built in 1939, it was designed to blend harmoniously with its surroundings. Tours are available by reservation only. Visitors must be shuttled to the lodge from the Incline Village/Crystal Bay Visitor's Center.

Vikingsholm

Vikingsholm is located at the head of Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe, California. This magnificent "castle" is a unique blend of Nature's spectacular beauty and man's architectural ingenuity.

Vikingsholm, situated majestically among towering pines and cedars, was built as a summer home by Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight in 1929.
