The water master controlled the Truckee River flow and used to live in the now restored cabin. Today it is the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society museum.

Commons Beach (Tahoe City)

See Tahoe life at the turn of the century. Guides are dressed in period costumes and many of the original pieces of furniture are on site.

Across from the Bridgetender, just south of the "Y" in Tahoe City. The bridge gets it’s name from the view as you drive by. People line the bridge to gaze below at the enormous rainbow trout.

The name says it all.  Although it’s no longer used for this purpose, you really get the bird’s eye view with this short, but rewarding quater mile hike.  Take Reservoir Road, past the Biltmore.

This is a perfect hike for a family. You’ll follow the PCT north and pass though a tunnel under Interstate 80. The sign to Summit Lake is not much farther and the trail is clearly marked.

Cross the tracks in to Truckee and take a leisurely stroll along the antique buildings of Commercial Row. You’ll find about a ¼ mile of gift shops, restaurants, and unique stores to browse.
